These are easy to use, but it might take a few tries before you get the right rhythm going. You need to move quickly once you put polish on the plate or else it will start to dry and won’t work as nicely. For the best results, you’ll want to use a more heavily pigmented polish to make the design. Light colors or polish that needs several layers for color to show do not work well.
You’ll also want to make sure you remove the blue protective film off of the plates before using them! I’ve seen many reviews complaining that plates were scratched or unusable and the pictures they post still have the blue film on them.
Tips to make stamping easier with these plates
You MUST remove the blue protective sheeting on the plates.
Don’t use the included scraper. Metal scratches the plates. Use an old gift card or similar flat plastic piece as a scraper.
The included stamper is fine. If you are having trouble getting the image to clearly transfer from the plate just roughen the stamper (not the plate) with a nail file and then rinse under water.
Clean the plate with q-tip and acetone every 2-3 impression to get the image to come out clearly. I clean it for every impression to get crisp clear lines.
DO NOT store your plates all together in one big bag. Without the protective blue plastic on them the plates can easily scratch. Store them in separate Ziploc bags or in a CD holder or photo album.
Again, this set (the 100 set) is an amazing value. The plates are great quality, and they have many of the same images as the popular Konad plates. These plates cost less than .30c each. The Konad plates are almost 7 dollars on their website. I suggest buying these plates as your first getting into stamping, as the listing doesn’t give exact details on what plates will be include.
First off these plates are described as being 3 inch plates. The ones I received were only 2 1/4 inch plates.
In my order one plate was bent upwards at 1/2 inch on one side of the plate. And there were two plates that were duplicated.
For safe and visual storage, with these plates being so small they will fit into 9 pocket baseball card collectors sheets for a standard 3 ring binders. Making no need to purchase the higher priced sheets for stamping plates.
They are also pretty sharp. This a can be fixed by making backings out of thin plastic place mats from Walmart or places like Dollar Tree.
Place the plates to onto the mats and outline, so you can see how many backings you can get out of one mat. With double back
sticky carpet tape affix them to the mat. Then just cut out the plates from the mats. Any double back sticky tape will work. But carpet tape holds better.
This works as well for rectangle or bigger square stamping plates. But you can purchase ready made backings for the smaller rectangle plates.
I have never located any pre-made backings for round plates. Hope this helps others that have or will purchase these places. They look to be engraved well. Since I just got these I can’t tell you how well they will stamp.
The seller did issue a refund of $5.00 for the duplicated and damaged plates.
I do not use the stamper and the scraper because I use a jelly stamper (metal blue, 4 cm wide) and a credit card for scraper.
The borders of the plates are sharp, but I did not have any cuts in my hands after removing the blue plastic protector. I used the scraper that came with the plates to pull away the blue plastic from the border of the plate and then remove the blue plastic with tweezers. Then I place the plates in the Pueen $5 case holders purchased in Amazon.
These plates stamp very well. I did not tried out the hundreds of designs yet, but the ones I used work very well. And they worked with one coater regular nail polish (sinful colors, wet n’wild and funky fingers). Some practice and patience is needed at the beginning for nail stamping.
The images are flowers, fruit, butterflies, bows, circles, crisscross, Christmas, love, hearts, kisses, lace, fish, cats, bear, duck,
alphabet, horoscope, Hawaii, ballerinas, cheer leading, patriotic, shoe, purse and hat, music and many more.
